"We need to convince Guineans to take key measures to prevent infection. We must convince them that the sooner they seek medical help, the more likely they are to survive and recover. This is how we will stop viral transmission.
"But we are fighting against fear, against traditional beliefs and practices, and even against irresponsible behavior by some. The events at Wome have moved me to increase our efforts to raise awareness. Our communications campaigns must be local as well as national; they must involve community health workers. We require the help of our security forces to make sure that reprehensible acts do not occur again."
